Amherst - Sunny skies
and good matches highlighted the Spartans second trip to the
ARMS Middle School Ultimate Invitational. The Spartans
Ultimate Team finished the day 1-3 and played proudly throughout
the event.
In the opener against Lander Grinspoon Academy, Marcus Jimenez,
Adolfo Bello, and David Moscat starred scoring two goals each.
Captains, Bernadette Norman and Zach Ducharme controlled play on
offense and distributed the disc well in the victory.
Roberto Rodriguez, Daniel Moscat, and Mazdaly Cepeda also scored
in the win. Moscat had the highlight lay-out catch
for the tournament in the 12-11 win.
Against Hartsbrook, a second half resurgence was led by an all
girls unit made up of Norman, Joaly Rosario, Cepeda, Oneida
Rios-Gonzalez, Kat Stone, Amanda Mendez, Grimilda Lopez, Hannah
Walworth, and Ivy Rosario. Their spirit and play brought
the team to a new level that carried over into the final game of
the tournament.
Adolfo Bello made a spectacular catch early in the match which
was a tight one throughout. Andres Gil, Jens Reyes,
and Kingdell Valdez handled the disc very well in the match.
David Rodriguez, Sean Jimenez, and Brian DeLeon each made some
great catches.
