Community Day Charter Public School is a free, public school known for high academic standards. Focusing on individual learning needs and offering special education services, the school has had success helping students achieve high scores on MCAS.

The school offers an 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. school day with before and after school care (day can be extended to 6:45 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.) and offers free summer school. Offering English immersion with bilingual staff, the school is open to all students living in Lawrence and admission is done by lottery; there is no test required for admission to the school.

Applying to Community Day Charter Public Schools

In fall 2012, we will reopen the doors to our existing K1-8 school, which will be renamed "Community Day Charter Public School – Prospect". We will also open the doors to 2 new schools that will be located in Lawrence, with the location to be announced:

  • Community Day Charter Public School – Gateway
    Opening with K1 (4 year-olds), K2 (Kindergarten), and grade 1

  • Community Day Charter Public School – R. Kingman Webster
    Opening with K1 (4 year-olds), K2 (Kindergarten), and grade 1

The two new schools will each open for the 2012-13 school year with the grades shown above, adding grades in the following years until they reach full capacity with grades K1-8.

Application to each school is done by a public lottery that is held in March for the following school year. Separate lotteries will be held for each school. The lotteries for the 2012-13 school year will be held March 14, 2012 at 190 Hampshire Street, beginning at 9:30 a.m. To apply to our schools, fill out an application (English - Spanish) and return it to us at 190 Hampshire Street, Lawrence, MA 01840 by February 29, 2012.

If your child will be entering K1, Kindergarten, or first grade in fall 2012, we encourage you to apply for each school to increase your child's chances of securing a spot during one of the lotteries.
