2nd Annual Career Day Opens Eyes of Students

CDCPS held
it's 2nd Annual Career Day on Thursday, June 3rd, 2010 for
5th through 8th grade students. Throughout the day, each
child had the opportunity to explore a variety of different
careers as they met and learned from local professionals in
their areas of interest. This was a wonderful chance for
students to gain knowledge about different career fields,
learn more about how education plays an important role in
future professions, and help them develop their
interpersonal skills. Career presenters included an
attorney, police officer, nurse, and firefighter as well
as an architect, jewelry designer, chef, software designer
and many others. Our special speaker of the day was Mayor
Lantigua who encouraged our students to strive for their
dreams and take pride in their city. Our students enjoyed
this event and as eighth grade student, Keeana Abreu stated,
"Career day this year went very well for me. I had my
questions answered and it has opened up new doors for me – I
have now found interest in fields I never thought about
before."
