Patricia Teichman

Message from Patricia Teichman, Head of the Early Learning Center

For many children, the Early Learning Center (ELC) is their first experience in a school setting.  Our NAEYC accredited program works hard to incorporate all aspects of a child’s growth and development.   The Kindergarten classrooms have adopted the nationally accredited “Success For All” CuriosityCorner and KinderCorner curriculum.  These programs focus on early literacy and problem solving skills.  Spanish class, music and movement, and physical education compliment our language-enriched curriculum.  The Reading First Program supports our work in areas of phonics, phonemic awareness, language, comprehension and fluency. Parents and teachers work together to create a warm nurturing environment for all children.  As the Head of the ELC, I am proud to work alongside the dedicated teachers and families who support student achievement at all ages. When you enter the ELC, the sounds of happy children are heard everywhere!

Message from Brent Merten, Head of the Lower School

As Head of the Lower School, I look forward to working with the students, parents, and staff of Grades 2-4.  I feel fortunate to be a part of a school with very high academic and behavioral expectations and students that continue to meet and surpass those expectations. The students at CDCPS are lucky to have hard working teachers that continually improve and revise the curriculum at each grade level.  The teachers here make every effort to meet the needs of all students by differentiating instruction to reach students with varying learning styles in multiple stages of learning. Together we can continue and build upon the tradition of preparing Lower School students for the Upper School and life beyond CDCPS.

Message from Mary Chance, Head of the Upper School

I consider it a privilege to serve our school community as the Head of the Upper School.  To be a member of this community is to be an integral part of a dedicated, caring, and hard-working family that is united in the common goal of achieving the very best in all facets of life.  Together faculty members, parents, and students work to build upon the excellent foundation from the lower school to further learning with the highest academic expectations.  Through a standards-based curriculum, differentiated learning to meet the diverse needs of our population, and data to constantly adjust to the dynamic nature of pupils, our teachers go above and beyond the call of duty.  Students, staff, and families also become involved with various extracurricular activities from athletics to violin to chess to foster a well-rounded education.  Together this community has fostered the growth and development of its students from young children to young adults.  As these CDCPS students embark upon their next journey in high school and life, they are definitely ready for the many challenges that await them.!
