What Is
Community Strings?
Community Strings strives to
bring a high level of violin instruction to the students of
Community Day Charter Public School and Community Day Care’s
Latchkey Program. High expectations guide children in moving
beyond learning the basics of this difficult instrument to
an ability to play beautifully. Through the experience of
studying violin and performing, students are able to
experience the joy of making music and develop a lifelong
love of music.
Students develop skills
through weekly lessons, work at home, and group work. Marcia
Lier, violin instructor, uses the Suzuki method of teaching
and also weaves in fiddle, folk, and classical music.
